Welcome to our story

The Angie Workman Scholarship Fund Tournament was started in 1994 by the Crane Country Club Ladies Auxiliary. Angie, the daughter of the late Arthur (Butch) Workman, Donna Workman Beardslee and Ricky Beardslee, was a Crane, Texas High School state golfer and graduate whose life was taken in an automobile accident on May 23, 1993, at the young age of nineteen.

The Crane Country Club Ladies Auxiliary approached Angie’s mother, Donna Beardslee, with the idea to have a one-time memorial tournament in Angie’s name to raise money for scholarships to give to Crane High School students. The support of sponsorships, donations and the hard work from volunteers has turned this one-time tournament into a major golf tournament well known across the Permian Basin and West Texas. The first tournament started with $500 awarded to two students and has grown exponentially. In 2024, the Angie Workman Scholarship Fund awarded five scholarships in the amount of $30,000. To date, we have awarded over $500,000 to Crane High School students allowing them to pursue continuing education and trade schooling. All work is done by volunteers from family and friends of the Workman/Beardslee family, along with the Board of Directors.

This year will mark the 31st year for this tournament. The Angie Workman Scholarship Fund is privileged to maintain our 501 (c)(3) status from the Federal Government. We continue to expand our search for contributors to provide additional scholarships to Crane High School students. It is with your support that we are able to help students pay the increasing cost of tuition and education.
